SF - # Stay Fresh: Learning Torah with # Thirst

"Drink with Thirst the Teachings of Your Rabbis" (Avos 1)

The enjoyment of Torah depends on one’s love and thirst for it. A person who approaches Torah without enthusiasm will dismiss even the most profound and beautiful insight. But one who comes with a genuine thirst finds delight in every word. Even ideas that are not fully understood bring him joy, because his heart is ignited by the excitement of hearing his Rabbi reveal the wisdom of Torah.

The Torah reveals its light to those who love it and yearn for its wisdom. The more we long to understand HaShem’s word, the more we will discover beauty, depth, and inspiration in our study.

Today: Keep your approach to Torah fresh and alive. Learn with thirst, and you will find yourself uplifted and energized by every word and concept.

(Based on Rabbeinu Yonah’s commentary to Pirkei Avos)
