Care for the Soul of Your Friends
Yoseph treated his brothers hospitably when they returned to Egypt for the second time. In light of the fact that he was at peace with them, what was his purpose in planting his goblet in Binaymin's sack? Yoseph's intention was to help his brothers rectify their betrayal. Firstly, the fear of being under suspicion would atone for their selling of Yosef. Secondly, he wanted to see if they would plead for Benyamin, and this would atone for their callousness toward's Yoseph's cries for mercy. Thirdly, the issue of the stealing the goblet, would move them to repent for selling Yoseph into slavery.
Lesson: It is important for us to care about the spiritual welfare of our friends, and to reflect on the most effective ways to uplift them.
App: Consider the best way to encourage, strengthen, and enlighten other people. Put your plan into action and bring your friends to life in this world as well as the eternal Gan Eden.
