SF - The Unique Role of Klal Yisrael

The Unique Role of Klal Yisrael

The Greeks banned the lighting of the Menorah in the Temple because it was the Mitzvah through which we brought the Divine Light into the world. From the time of creation, HaShem appointed Klal Yisrael as the intermediary to awaken the blessings and light from Heaven. When we study Torah, perform Mitzvos and good deeds, HaShem showers the world with blessing and goodness. The Greeks didn't realize that even without the Menorah, our prayers, Mitzvos, and dedication awaken the miraculous salvation of  HaShem.

Lesson: Just as water evaporates from the earth and then converts into rain, so too, our actions on earth ascend to Heaven and awaken the blessings of HaShem to flow upon us.

App: When you make a blessing, have the intention that the world be filled with  the blessing, light, compassion, and the holiness of HaShem.
(Based on the writings of Rav Yisrael Salanter, Even Yisrael)
