True Wisdom
When Yaacov Avinu learned that Esau and his four hundred men where coming to attack him, he was deeply afraid. Yet, previously to this encounter with Esau, HaShem promised Yaacov that He would protect him and bring him safely back to Eretz Yisrael. If so, why did he fear? Yaacov was concerned that perhaps his new found wealth, caused him to deviate from the path of humility. Perhaps, he lost the merit of HaShem's protection.
Lesson: The essence of wisdom is the awareness that every human being - even a great, spiritual man -- is susceptible to the influence of the yetzer hora.
App: Be a person of wisdom -- reflect on your actions and character traits. Rectify your short-comings and come close to the blessings of HaShem.
