SF - Optimism is the Key

Optimism is the Key

"Rabbi Shimon says: Do not judge yourself to be a bad person." (Avos 2:18)

The key to spiritual advancement is constant optimism in HaShem's infinite compassion and in our own  personal goodness. Since the mercy of HaShem is abundant and unbounded, no misdeed is beyond forgiveness. Just as importantly, since our core essence is holy, our personal rectification is inherently attainable.  Once we realize that the path of repentance is always open before us, we will be inspired to rectify the past and elevate ourselves.

Lesson: Hope is the finest and most precious attribute; the very life breath of the soul! When we are aware that HaShem patiently and mercifully awaits our return to the pure goodness of our beautiful soul, we will be encouraged to perform Teshuvah.

Visualization: Envision that your breathing increases your optimism and vanquishes your despair.Take in a deep breathe of optimism. Feel your heart and soul fill with joy, inspiration, and strength. Then exhale and discard all the despair and self-doubt. Repeat this a few times a day, and strengthen your consciousness of HaShem's compassion and of your eternal goodness.
(Based on the commentary of Rabenu Yonah to Pirkei Avos)
