Master of Emotions
The intensity of Yehudah's plea to Yoseph, to spare Benyamin, moved Yoseph's heart. At that poignant moment, he could no longer "hold himself back" from revealing himself to his brothers. Nevertheless, before he cried out, "I am Yoseph your brother," he mastered his feelings. He first dismissed all the Egyptian advisors, in order to spare his brothers embarrassment in front of them.
Lesson: Powerful emotions are always justified. Yet, it is imperative to express ourselves tactfully, without ever causing distress or hurt to others.
App: Envision the intensity of feelings in Yoseph's heart when his brothers, who sold him into slavery, pleaded to him for their lives. See him master his emotions and clear the room before revealing himself to his brothers. Be inspired by Yoseph to keep strong emotions in check and avoid causing hurt to family and friends.
