The Pursuit of Peace
Abaye taught the following pearls of wisdom: "Reflect on the awe of HaShem. And remember that a soft answer appeases anger. It is appropriate for a person to foster peace with his brethren, relatives, and with every person. It is also fitting to act peacefully towards non-Jews. When he fulfills these ideals he is beloved to Heaven and pleasant to his fellow man; and will find favor in the eyes of every person."
Lesson: When we make a sincere effort to be pleasing and peaceful to others, we attain success in both our personal and spiritual pursuits.
Visualization: Envision the graciousness of Avraham Avinu. See how he relates with love and sensitivity to his family, friends, and acquaintances. See how beloved he is on earth and to HaShem. Be inspired to follow the the good ways of Avraham and find joy, favor, and success. (Based on Brachos 17a)
