Pour Out Your Heart
Rabbi Eliezer taught that the night is divided into three equal periods. In each period, HaShem sits and roars like a lion over the destruction of the Temple and the exile of His children. During the entire span of the Galus, HaShem has constant mercy and empathy for the plight of the Temple and the plight of Klal Yisrael.
Lesson: The Torah tells us that HaShem wails at night in order to reveal to us that it is appropriate for us to also pray at this propitious time.
App: Set aside a few minutes each day to reflect on the loss of the Temple and pray over its destruction, as it says, "Arise, cry out in the night and pour out your heart like water in the presence of Hashem." (Based on Brachos 3a and the commentary of Ein Yaacov)
