The Power of Yisrael
Yaacov prevailed in his battle with the angel, the spiritual counterpart of Eisev. Afterwards, HaShem changed his name to Yisrael, which means "you have striven with the divine and you have overcome." Even though his name was changed, in many places the Torah still refers to him as Yaacov. This reveals that the descendants of Eisev will try to destroy Klal Yisrael through out the ages. Therefore, Yaacov's change of name to Yisrael was not permanent, just as his victory was temporary. Nevertheless, Yisrael will always endure and prevail.
Lesson: The incident of Yaacov and the angel conveys the message the no matter how many times Klal Yisrael is endangered, we can triumph just as Yaacov did. Even more, the blessings and healing that Yaacov ultimately received signify the great light that will shine on us at the time of our redemption -- when the dominance of Yisrael will endure.
